I Can Make Art ... Like Maud Lewis
In this short film from the I Can Make Art Like... series, a group of Grade 6 students are inspired by Maud Lewis, the celebrated Nova Scotian folk artist who painted scenes of country life. With the help of artist Kyle Jackson, they create a folk art painting of their own downtown neighbourhood. Informative, touching and filled with the magic of creation, this film shows both the power and simple pleasure of folk art.

- Qu’a de particulier le style artistique de Maud Lewis?
- La question vise à évaluer l’attention des élèves et leur aptitude à écouter, tout en vous permettant de cerner l’aspect du style artistique de la peintre auquel ils s’identifient le plus.
- Peindre ce qui s’offre au regard
- Il s’agit ici de peindre une œuvre artistique inspirée de l’environnement immédiat des élèves et centrée sur les formes et les couleurs des objets du quotidien.
- Collage collectif
- Demandez aux élèves d’aller dehors et de prendre des notes sur leur environnement, urbain ou autre. Attribuez-leur ensuite des rôles dans la réalisation d’éléments ou de points d’intérêt uniques afin de créer un tableau de collage qui représente leur environnement. L’activité permet à la fois d’explorer les différents supports artistiques et d’insuffler un esprit d’équipe pour la réalisation de l’œuvre finale.
