The NFB was a key factor in Werner Nold's decision to leave Switzerland for Canada. Intent on a film career, the young photographer found work with Gilles Carle as an editor (Dimanche d'Amérique, 1961). It was an age of exploration, and Nold found himself on one of the most adventurous expeditions of all, alongside Brault and Perrault, on a shoot unlike any other.
